Presidential Hopeful Pushes for Clear Crypto Guidelines
Andrew Yang, one of several Democratic party members challenging Trump in the 2020 election, is promising to “create clear guidelines in the digital asset world so that businesses and individuals can invest and innovate in the area without fear of a regulatory shift”.
With this statement, Yang is the first of the candidates to focus attention on US crypto policies. He expressed his frustration that lawmakers have been slow to act in this industry, and when they did, different states came up with conflicting policies and regulation. A similar situation is also present across the ocean, in Europe.
As many policymakers who are working towards regulating the cryptocurrency arena, Yang is focusing the majority of his attention towards tax, specifically the Token Taxonomy Act. It has yet to be seen whether the presidential hopeful will successfully move the subject of crypto legislation as a primary debate topic.
